The following Advisors have chosen to assist enrollees towards becoming Rachel Corrie's Peacemakers, to show them how to best take advantage of resources in becoming highly skilled professionals in the ART of Peace... towards the creation of the *real* U.S. Peace Academy.
All together, the advisors listed below have a broadly varying and most valuable life experience in waging the arts of peace. Many of them have risked arrest by civil or federal authorities in the process of civil disobedience. Many of them, as a direct result of their courage and commitment to the highest principles of democracy, have actually been arrested and so gave up their freedom for periods of time. Some of them have learned and earned their knowledge the hard way, having joined the military fully ready to serve, some when the country was at war, some serving in combat. All of these believing at the time that this was their highest purpose. Some of them were aware of the broader perspectives and so have experience in conscientious objection fully risking being sentenced to federal prison. And some served time for questioning authority in such a courageous way.
We greatly appreciate the time and energy selflessly volunteered by these individuals in the cause of peace. As we develop the advisory program and this web page, we will indicate below more details as to the background each advisor brings to service, and the nature of the counsel each one has to offer.

Artistic rendering of concepts & ideals as related to Purpose and eventual goals of vUSPA, including:
* Eagle: integrative overview and foresight, as well as clothed by the more peaceful of the traditional symbols in the original seal of the United States (olive branch, banner "E Pluribus Unum" - meaning "Of Many, One"). * Dove: peace, non-violence, gentleness. * Olive Branch: ages old symbol for Peace. In "the Great Seal," where the eagle is also holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, the eagle has its head turned towards the olive branch, said to symbolize a preference for peace. * Globe: global citizen oriented. * Open Book: Right Use of Knowledge, Right Parenting, Right Use of Science * Circle of Symbols of World Religions: Ecuminicism of Beliefs. * 4 Directions Hoop: a symbol common to almost all Indigenous people of the Americas, but of other world cultures as well, The four cardinal points of the medicine wheel can be used to explain the complex reality of personal and community development. artwork/rendering by Chris Pringer |
