"We often talk in terms of "the perfection of the moment" , but, well, ... Here we are, replete with a cadre of inner children in each one of us (as personifications of our emotional body). And children can't simply be told that their feelings have no value (however nicely or subliminally we may do it, since the message is registered whether they are aware of it or not) --isn't that how societies have gotten as insulated from the suffering of others as it has. Inner children respond the same way - another aspect of our holographic nature. ...And, of course, I have my pet soap boxes, [about having watched] young disciples led down the merry path to disillusionment because they weren't told "the exceptions to the rules" and their implications in real life. On the farthest contrary, I am for doing it thoroughly without skipping the steps or teaching others to attempt it in ways that will only disillusion them. And the body is the hottest thing going for denial in the new age race for so-called transcendence. I don't hear too many other bodyworkers and massage therapists writing on this subject (directly) and I can imagine why - most of us are so kinesthetic we don't get into the ethers very often. The one's you generally hear from are the Energy workers who are usually in their body only when doing "the work" and maybe not even then. I'm an unusual hybrid, a 'holographic hedonist' that enjoys the 'feel' of the energy flow and the kinesthetic texture, while also trying to understand 'the grand picture.' I like to perceive the world with those kinds of sense-fulfillments being priorities, along or simultaneous with the intellectual understanding of 'how it works', along or simultaneous with the intuitive based connectedness with the whole of it. I'm not saying that I "live" there, but there is the enjoyment of as much of all three or four of those levels, more or less simultaneously. "...I used to brag ...that I prayed to God for maturity. IE: if you had included "acknowledgments" to the above questions, then examine what acknowledgments you would feel you could not fully accept, and why not. It's just one of those interesting paradoxes that philosophers toss about, but Consider: How does a person withstand great amounts of pain within themselves, or when sensed within people they love, or within their next door neighbor? I understand those can each have very different answers. But does it not have to do with a certain kind of toughness or strength that one gathers so that one can "just get on with life"? I would answer that "Yes." However, have you known people with whom there can there be certain types of situations when s/he invokes that strength so strongly or so often -- perhaps for a lifetime -- that it becomes a hindrance to him/herself and/or to others? Do you believes that we all work best when we all work together -- not necessarily next to each other, but in one accord, as opposed to working in discord)? Do you see the connection here, especially when you consider the increasing effect of one person's actions and even lifestyle on another, regardless of the distance between them? Do you think that the best solution to the planet's problems is to rate the value or worthiness of different kinds of people and then ration out the planets resources according to that rating? Of course that is a rhetoric question, but do you see how that relates to the type of nationalism and patriotism that seems to have been communicated so much in recent years? ------- An email aquaintance wrote: "I think re-education of the brainwashed is the key. But how to accomplish this I'm not sure. Mass media & 'homeland security' still have the upper hand." My Response to that: People shut down about something (or maybe a lot of things) when they've been hurt enough to give up hope about it/them. They feel bad enough about that that the memory gets shoved under sooner or later, and they use the energy that would've been used for the original concern/desire for something that doesn't bring up the pain again, even helps keep the pain "safely" buried (soul uses the body-mind to "store" the energy until the personality is ready to deal with that issue and heal it). This is classic denial, altho a little more specific type, and this description includes the body-mind's involvement. And we've all done it -- at least in small, relatively insignificant ways, unless you're a Jesus this life and have never given your power away to anyone ever. Anyway, when we heal that... well, that's what [this] is all about, as applied to how/when we've given up our power to create and maintain a government that represents us ... Yes, it can be just too much at times... why not just detach, given the option of (actually?) residing in the void? Could there be a relationship between acceptance, detachment, and pain? Ah... we can avoid the pain of non-acceptance by developing an expertise in detachment! (When Fred is good, he's really bad) After all, eventually the personality will cease to be a necessary vehicle. But how and when (?) -- by denying it exists when we've reached a 'level' where we can call ourselves 'spiritual,' because we've actually kept deep within us the fundamentalist idea that makes pain wrong and something to be punished, and therefore we had to deny our own deep pain, lest we make ourselves unworthy of our 'spirituality' and of true transcendence ? (whiz... duck that one best you can ...Fred doesn't get out much.) ...But truly, there are many wonderful ways to assist in one's transcendence. Maybe, just to get a point across, we could call them, "Advanced Techniques in ** NOT ** Co-opting the Critical Parent into Further 'Protecting' the Inner Child While Imprisoning It and Judging All Opportunities for Stimulation of Emotional Awareness -- as Dangerous and/or as Perfect Opportunities to Project One's Stuff Onto Someone Else." There are other ways to interface with the emotional body other than with the invocation of the Critical Parent and its overt and/or covert methods of protection, suppression, denigrating, or various control maintenance. Or perhaps transcendence comes through the very mortal experience of *loving* the personality and its attachments (body and emotions, thoughts and beliefs...including attachment to one's self realization) into transmutation. What? ... "Or perhaps ... *loving* the personality and its attachments ... into transmutation." It is then fully accepted with undying Presence of All That is -- coalesced into an attendant, most nurturing spark of compassionate consciousness -- focalized, yes, almost into form, as it were! The focus then was on self-help psychology, consciousness, and eastern and western mystical perspectives. This continued through my university studies in Norman, OK '74-'79. 1980 took me into naturopathic studies, primarily nutrition and herbology when I lived in Oklahoma City. Not seeing the naturopathic doctor route as affordable at the time, I found direction via a five-evening massage course, Fall '83. That led to a six month professional practice, followed up with the training in Sante Fe, NM, '84-'85 (detailed in my on-line brochure). Since then I have practiced massage and/or healing facilitation for others, initially in Santa Fe, NM (during/after my training), then San Louis Obispo, CA, and Seattle, WA. This includes exploring personal challenges and self-healing methodology. A session may include various energy-body-work modalities, Body/Energy-Awareness based Preventative Health Maintenance Instruction, or only Reiki or relaxation work in total silence. A client chooses based on whatever stress, pain, or concerns are present at that session. A client may request a "Body Pattern Reading," as well as various massage/bodywork therapies. All of which techniques, related information, as well as a rate schedule for individual, regular and 3-6 week interval-based programs, are listed & described in the Body-Mind Integration Therapies Brochure and the Compact Trifold version via . ««« MY PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS have primarily centered in three areas: »»» 1) Body-Centered Psycho-Spiritual Process (as in "Hakomi" style of) counseling and bodywork , including as assessing an individual for the most efficient means of addressing connective tissue injury, short and long term, and the most efficient application of the results of that assessment (on physical and/or emotional levels); 2) in the basic hows & whys related to the storage & release of tension and "body memory" in the muscles and fascia. and in the related fascia memory storage dynamics - referring to the technical aspects of neuro-physical interface between connective tissue, emotion, and the brain); 3) "Chalice-Bridging" style chakra balancing , including Reiki (energy work) - based in the perspective that the chalice, far more than just a cup in this interpretation, is about the human embodiment of Spirit into the three "lower bodies" (mental, emotional, and physical) which compose the "Body-Mind". Which is also a "cauldron" for the balancing and integrating of Humanity with the Divine - individually and communally. ««« MY TRAINING »»» Over 1370 hours of classes and practicum, including with the New Mexico Academy of Massage and Advanced Healing Arts in Santa Fe, NM (1984-85), and with various accredited bodywork and therapy workshops (`86-present), as well as 100 hours training with the Alchemical Hypnotherapy Institute (1989), over 100 hrs apprenticeship with healing practitioner Robert "Mitra" (`85-`86), 150 hours apprenticeship with Silena Heron in Herbal Studies (`83-`84), Training, Certification, & Empowerment as Reiki Master (3rd Degree Johrei, 1991; Kundalini Reiki to 9th Level w/Gtunmo & Devic Template, 2004). Hence, massage is far from just "a luxury item," and bodywork therapies can be indispensable for the healing of certain conditions. MUSCLES RELATE TO ATTACHMENTS - to what we use to take our stance, to hold our place, to perceive and respond to our environment, and to extend who we are and/or want to be. Or used to be (in too many cases, perhaps). That speaks not only to the body's condition and function, but to how it communicates awareness of where one is along one's path (of becoming who one truly is). THE BODY IS . . . among other amazing things, a unique communications system --intimately linked with one's TOTALITY. Establishing rapport with one's body can be a PATH to self realization. ONE OF MY DREAMS is a society where/in all children are taught how to feel/see/read their own body-mind communications such that preventive health maintenance eventually becomes second nature. And actually, for the most part, they would be encouraged to re-awaken and build upon what I believe to be a NATURAL INCLINATION - conscious self-healing and continuous expansion of awareness. And the above goes FOR ALL OTHER ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES, to the degree that one utilizes them to improve such awareness and causative/pro-active connection with one's body-mind, and to employ the most effective tools for maintaining/improving one's health under any given condition or circumstance. WHY DOES BODY AWARENESS = OPTIMUM HEALTH INSURANCE ? And How does "Body-Parenting" relate to that in Body-Mind Integration ? Find out via the Body-Mind Integration Therapies Brochure
