        Some Context
More recently the grail has been interpreted as the womb or female holder of the bloodline of Christ (ie: *The Da Vinci Code*). But I maintain that in the perspective of 'balance in the universe,' Male AND Female energies form a bio-electric charge of opposite polarities. And through this it forms a vortex of energies that form "the chalice." Conceptually, it symbolizes the "bridging" of the two realms (Male-Female, Yang-Yin, Form-Formlessness, etc). A "Poly-Psy" perspective on that is in the section on 'Pragmatic Balancing": GETTING BEYOND... and Clarifying a/my/some vision for bringing "nigh" the optimal reality scenarios... My interest in the nature of these relationships is also why my own roles has varied from contemplative, to hopeful futurist, from therapist to on-the-street political activist for peace & justice. Introduction and Related BIO

          The symbols for the "Chalice" or Holy Grail (that I often use) are drawn essentially from ancient archetypes - including the symbol(s) composing what is known as "The Star of David," which actually pre-date(s) the Jewish faith by many centuries or more. They all have their own rich meanings as related to the spiritual dilemma or paradox, balancing or synthesis of qualities (such as Yin & Yang, maternal & paternal, left-brain & right, expanded/contracted), and healing transformation. Here, the Chalice is essentially a vehicle for the balancing and integrating of Humanity with the Divine - individually and communally. The "Chalice-Star" over the three traveling magi is used in my Solstice or Christmas Card design to represent our quest - in this earthly dimension of body, mind, and spirit - for the inner-most Source of one's spirit and faith -- whether that would be the Inner Christ, Inner Buddha, Inner Mohammed, or the Divine Mother's Spirit connecting All Life, etc. And that lends a hint as to how I regard the actual meaning and purpose of the Holy Grail legend. The actual origins of my relationship with the Chalice and related archetypes are noted below with illustrations by yours truly, beginning more personally and continuing with some elaboration on more technical/psycho-spiritual background, related correlations, and practical applications in therapy.

          "The Chalice" has thus become the main archetype that I resonate with, focus my artistic energies into, employ, and extend my views from. It does not detract from my appreciation of other spiritual systems - it actually makes more sense of them for me, allows greater appreciation of their contributions to Mankind's process, past and current. There are a number of ways to approach the idea or concept of the chalice - historically, metaphysically and/or spiritually, geometrically, and correlations of the perspectives of any two or more of those. In the page sections below, a little of each of those approaches are used. Some you may relate to, others you may not. There are also links to provide more perspectives, background, and balance to the whole rendering of the topic. I confess to trying to make these perspectives understandable to a very wide range of people, while hoping that I won't be either too elementary to some, nor obtuse to others.

          My perspective on the Chalice was born out of a 3+ dimensional form that I "saw" back in the late Spring of 1985. [ Note: I didn't actually "see" that in a phenomenological way. That is, not in a really different way than many others might. I saw it much more in a 3D visual thought-form, than what is generally called a "vision," but more "complete" than has been illustrated here (although I hope my graphic and other capabilities are progressing such that I will be able to present it sufficiently some day). But neither was it conscious or pre-meditated or creative active-visualization. ] And I recognized then, that conceptually, there were strong relationships among the "Holy Grail", it's (more or less simple) legendary meanings, the archetypic symbols, and the more technical meanings of the geometric forms that composed -and was composed by- the chalice form. The experience was a composite of new and old information, on visual, mental, and emotional levels of perceptions. It was a pretty awe-striking moment, all effecting the composition of my spiritual beliefs (then and since then), even though I was very aware that the visual and attendant data around this epiphany was very related to, if not inspired by or a culmination of, my previous studies in related topics.

          A few years prior to that I had found interest in the "Holy Grail" legend as well as in "Sacred Geometry," although these two topics were perceived as more or less separate from each other. Earlier in 1985, Robert March, director at the New Mexico Academy of Massage and Advanced Healing Arts (the school's name has been shortened since then), taught our class various vibrational healing methodologies. I became very interested in the idea of using graphic formats for this purpose. The idea was not original. But I wanted to make art that was not only accurate and useful in this regard, but art that is pleasing to the eye, and possibly something that would eventually inspire as I had been inspired. I hope that future versions of the 3-D art will approach what I saw, as well as strum the strings of one's higher senses.

          In Spring of '86 I drew up the first full color, albeit 1D, version of the "Temple Diamond Chalice" (shown at above right), done in colored pencil and pen. When putting it's design to paper, I used designs drawn up in '85 with pi-ratio proportions obtained from the Matila Ghyka reference (see link section). This first rendering has provided the basis for most of my chalice art, and provided the basis for an intensely revealed guidance and empowerment in all realms of my life. I then began looking more into Sacred Geometry, and experimenting with more literal and aesthetically pleasing art forms (see related references in the "Grail Legend & Sacred Geometry" reference section below.

          This lead me to study further into archetypes related to the integration of form & formless, left brain & right, centralized & decentralized, other grail legend elements, and related psychology. This included study into realms of "Sacred Geometry," alchemy and energy dynamics, grail legend and related symbology, various body-mind-spirit correlations, other archetypes and related psychology. The geometric form, known as the "Golden Rectangle" (see figure at right) graphically describes the pi-ratio proportions, which is the basis of Sacred Geometry, DNA function, and the universal constant of all life as we know it. How and why is described in the "Proportion and Function" paragraph in the "Archetypes & Geometry Scenario 1" section. Working with this dynamic form over time has thus brought about many dynamic concepts, which has in turn become a continuous weaving of existing and new theories, along with the ancient archetypes into a purposefully interconnected web. That includes (about) relationships with the mandelbrot form per the section, "Diversity, and the Gestalt - a Function of Sacred Geometry (...Chaos Theory) ?" .
          This study provided the origins and philosophical basis of my writing. My hands-on and other therapeutic approaches, has further facilitated integration of the psychological perspectives. For myself, these experiences related both the body and the grail elements to the mind's interface, and did so in a way that makes sense of many otherwise-would-be paradoxes and mysteries. Most of the writing on the symbolism and philosophy was originated and edited in 1990-93, then further edited here and there over the years since.

        . All of the backgrounds, bullets, and bars on this web page and most all on the other pages at this site (Spring 2010) have been developed from a process that began with taking key lines and angles of a golden rectangle (also called a "pi-rectangle") and overlaying them, maintaining the proportions inherent in the form (see figure, "Overlaying..." at right). As I did this, I watched these lines quite naturally and beautifully form chalices - and chalices upon chalices! (1998) Some months later, colors and depths were brought in using graphics program filters, bringing about the background for the "Chalice Bridging" and "Synthesis" prose further below. With more learning in graphics software the tapestry-like formations emerged (such as at below right).

          The picture *left* is "Atomic Chalice I" (referring to each of our atoms being a host for the chalice dynamic), was done for the first class I gave on the subject in Fall of 1986 in San Lous Obispo, CA. Or rather, I should say it was for the first class in which I attempted to explain a perspective on "psycho-spiritual integration" using the Chalice/Grail symbology. Most of my computer art pieces are born out of direct scans of this piece.

          Before I get on with the more technical Chalice/Grail concepts, I'll close the Introduction section with saying that my past and present roles (massage therapist/gestalt bodyworker, reiki master, ordained minister, Earth steward, Veteran for Peace political activist) originated with an intense interest in what I would term "multi-dimensional change facilitation" -- which, I realize, sounds like a lot. But I was taught early on to ask, "how often does true (as in *permanent*) change happen for living beings on only one level of being?" (My professional bio is in the author section at bottom of page). Likewise, I've found mandalas to be great vehicles for integrating the various levels of awareness. The name Chalice Productions came about in 1991 when I produced and sold the "Synthesis" mandala shirts (silkscreening done by others). [ Nov 2010: The Synthesis Shirts page is back on line - there are still a few hundred of them left - make me a deal! smile ] Chalice Productions soon encompassed "Alchemical Art & Writing," which has since come under the desktop publishing name of "Chalice Creations and Concept Charting" (with the "4C-Publishing" page)

Through 4CPub I make and sell various art forms that are, ideally, both practical and aesthetic.     What about the archetype of Knighthood? That is, how we (most folks) relate to it? BIG HINT: What if I said "Spiritual battles are to be fought within?". And how many people (not just guys) have related that archetype (consciously or unconsciously) to their self-image as related to military service? Granted, I could think of far far worse archetypes for someone bent on going to war - ie: those unassociated with such attributes as chivalry. There is a story about how a former Marine (guess who ;-) came to different perspective on this.

Archetypes & Geometry Scenario 1

        Very generally speaking, The Chalice's key inherent shape(s), the 6-pointed star, is formed by a downward-pointing pyramid, which descends to pass partially through an ascending, upward-pointing pyramid. This traditionally represents a balancing and/or merging of opposites. This balancing represents an event which occurs on all levels of experience and consciousness, and particularly along the "vertical continuum" (as esoterists generally refer to it -- heaven and earth, God and man, formless and form. The "horizontal continuum" would refer to left brain & right brain, yang and yin, male and female, etc.) As such, it represents the conscious balancing of these forces (as appropriate to any given circumstance) as the Path to the God within, as well as the matrix (web) for the well that is filled in the meantime (through life experience). And through all this occurs the transmutation of "the little self" into the SELF that is fully self-realized.
        [Note: From this esoteric perspective, it doesn't matter what religion or philosophy one travels by to accomplish the purpose of moving effectively (spiritually) along the path of self-realization. EG: whatever gets one in/to that Divine space and moment IS what *works* for that purpose. That speaks about process orientation, one personally Spirit-led step at a time, and not about the ends determining the means or a set out activist/manipulative approach AND Context may/needs bear me out. ]

In More Detail:         In every cell of every living being, Father and Mother God (or Alpha and Omega) produce a vortex through the interplay of their complementary archetypic forces. Hence, every cell in the human body, as well as each of the energy centers, is also a chalice for the flow of divine forces. The Chalice is/represents the form that hosts the divine creation of these most Yin and Yang forces -- note the 'S' curves in the circles/spheres. (Please refer to the white on black diagram above). The ascending & descending triangles/pyramids represent the interplay of the two forces -- as mankind is caught in the magnetic/karmic forces of the vortex and the struggle, the paradox of divinity in humanity, of male and female so different and apart yet bound together inseparably, and in all the emotional dilemmas that this creates for building the all consuming fire of transmutation -- and (at one point) the merging of the two forces in the "cauldron of the Tao," as represented by the overlapping/sharing of the pyramids' capstones. Here the ego and spirit combine to burn and fuel the process of evolution/transcendence (The above prose by yours truly, "Chalice Bridging... Synthesis" says it in another way, as does the animated gif at right).
          [NOTE: When I use the term "evolution" at this website, I am referring to the psycho-social evolution of humankind, resulting in lasting change on the physical level, not the physical as we generally consider it (with the exception of the brain). And usually from the perspective or paradigm that looks at the recent psycho-social trends - in comparison to the overall course of mankind. -cp]

        Proportion and Function: The geometric dimensions in the piece are born out of the sacred pi ratio; There is a key relationship between sacred geometry and to how each bio-organism is actually designed and formed at the atomic and molecular levels, to the DNA and how it serves to relay energy and information from the etheric to the bio-magnetic to the physical within each being and as that being. And the above is due in great part to, yes, the SHAPE of these elements - via micro-electric polarities and charges and thus transfer of energies of various frequencies - via arrangements and GEOMETRIC PROPORTIONS that exist within each atom & molecule, AND exist as formed by groups of atoms & molecules. Another way of saying that, is that the PROPORTIONS, THUS SHAPE, of a molecule critically effect the ionic charge and thus attraction to other molecules, which, along with it's composition of elements (and the nature of their bonding, all of which largely effects the shape and proportion) determines the molecule's function, or how efficiently or even whether it does function. This is why the pi-ratio and "sacred geometry" are so important (essential-to-life). These particular arrangements (in location & proportion) exert primary influence on human bio-magnetic resonance, and this resonance (frequency) is what allows our senses to perceive that anything exists within and around us, not to mention (to perceive) our own selves as existing.

        The Yin-Yang curve is explained above; the heart curves, also in a balanced yin-yang interaction, represent the element of compassion for all life (each cell; each sentient being) in all situations. The mythical story of Camelot -- to the degree it was a myth -- represents each person's process in bringing these forces into balance within him/herself.
        At the points of their meeting, the polarity between the two primeval forces ceases, the charge in nil, the full realization of Self as God/Goddess is complete. This is also where there is a geometric balance of the ascending and decending triangles or pyramids - and is where it looks like the symbol that is popularly known as the Star of David. [As you might imagine from the above, this energetic arrangement long preceded any conception of any organized arrangement of beliefs brought under what we call religion. And various cultures used variously positioned triangles for representation of concepts and beliefs, including this one, long before the jewish religion arose.]
        In the next stage, the pyramids pull apart (vertically) symbolizing the extension from the androgynous form of God into it's Male and Female polarities. As it takes great force to do this, a magnetic force field of attraction between them is also created, thus forming a vortex of energy. Various harmonic waveforms of the vortex extending into other dimensions, each representing a quality of God, is also formed for each of the male and female polarities, including one for each universal primary energy center (or "chakra") of God.
        From these energy centers are projected the chakras of every living entity, from the angelic level to that of the most basic organism....

Why the Geometry Thing?
Position, Orientation, Communications, & Code

        One of the first means of communication that mankind recognized was how a person holds his body - how one or more body parts are positioned, relative to all the other body parts. This was one of the first clues about a person's physical health, as well as state of mind or emotion. The next extension of that was how one arranged one's own body in relation to that of another. Many, perhaps all, moral and cultural codes stem primarily from just these two realities.
        The next extension of communication in the physical world was probably how one arranged ones belongings, clothing and bodily ornamentation, and then how one arranges or positions less intimate property items. Eventually, this extends to how one's domain is arranged, internally as well as in relation to the community centers, shops, business centers, and the places set up for those who make major decisions for the community.

        I don't mean to minimize the aspect of verbal language development, but even that is centered around the description of physically situated persons, objects, symbols, arrangements, and thier reltionships, as well as their changes and movements. Art, as a natural extension of communication, becomes all about how one arranges the objects depicted, not to mention works out the colors, tones, connecting elements, and so forth.
        The more definition one is able to communicate about things, the more the attribute of intelligence has come to be naturally associated with, or formally assigned to, the communicator. Thence is developed the labeling, classifying, and organizing of the information that is communicated. Granted, the increase in specificity and use of definition probably developed primarily as a result of verbal communication. But it was still ABOUT things and people, and their positions in space and [etc], of course. Eventually, in any form of communication, there is developed a certain amount of sophistication. The amount/degree of that sophistication also became associated with the amount/degree of ones mental intelligence.

        HERE is where geometrics, as a sophisticated form of positional arrangement, enters in as a form of communication. Actually, geometry could probably have defined the most early forms of bodily positionings - body language - that communicated to others ones position and direction, stature and status, purpose and intention, confidence and power: virtually any and every attitude and demeanor. And of course, Michalangelo and Galaleo are well known to have incorporated sacred geometry into the design of their art, whether the art was centered around people, buildings, or objects. Or whether anyone recognized the geometry aspect.
        But THAT is the point of this sidebar. What we have found, is that the communications of the more sophisticated people of the early ages (including that of historians, whether by intention or by circumstance), was often done between those who felt they needed to communicate primarily, if not exclusively, to others with a comparable degree of sophistication. And apparently they often felt the need to communicate more or less secretly. Geometry became the way for them to accomplish that purpose. Learning the history of those times, we can understand why they felt a need for secrecy and code (ie: "The Da Vinci Code"). They didn't use computer algorythms back then. Hence, for those of us who want to understand the most sophisticated communications of those times, geometry becomes the mechanism to do.

        As for creating the presentation here, I owe that not to any skill with the algebra part of geometry, which always intimidated me. But to skills in recognizing pattern and proportionality, transposing and interpolating that (and anything I can reduce to such "media" comparison), and in creating templates as needed for the process of illustration, along with some basic knowledge of geometry... and a great deal of interest in the topics at hand. ( = "Geometry for Artists" ? ) Including as regards the essential-to-life aspects covered under "Proportion and Function" in the above page section (about which Galaleo did not know, although he probably suspicioned on some metaphorical level). All of which filled in to get this across - however well (or poorly) that it does.

Origins of Man

...from the chakras of every living entity, from the angelic level to that of the most basic organism... [the viewpoint continues...] ...

        ... from and for all this -- the dimensions of time and space, human 'beingness', physicality, and the material world is created -- now dressed upon the matrix of the bridge between Mother & Father God(s). This matrix as bridge is the macrocosmic representation of the Grail or Chalice. It is thus both a vessel and a "vehicle" for the expansion of consciousness to include the Totality of God.
        From the most basic aspect of polarity comes the experience of separate identity (ego), of subjective perception, and the possibility of interrelating events between and among individuals. God loves so unconditionally as to create dimensions where S/He "separates into two and holds SELF apart for the purpose of the creation, mothering, fathering, and maturation of God Being Children.
        Given physicality, God's Children begin a learning process fitting all that consciousness into the bodies of flesh and blood. In this form, the learning experience of consciousness is brand new. There is more than one version of Genesis, and the Adam and Eve experience.

       It is a popular theory in the esoteric teachings that we "Souls" first incarnated on earth as the ideal etheric-to-bio-electric channel, or Divine-to-Human energy transformers of consciousness, or Son or Daughter of God. From there, over many generations, we slid downhill spiritually. That is, we gradually closed our channels somewhat, if not drastically over time. We did this by limiting our perceptions of ourselves as we compared ourselves with others, made judgments about worthiness; eg: about who could or couldn't experience the Love of God or of others, when or how much, etc. Feeling more and more separate from God and thus from others, we began to compete for favor in God's eyes, and in other's eyes, and felt jealousy. The limit-sensing nature of our ego became more specialized at comparitive pursuits, given the state of less energetic balance, and we thus became more and more "fallible" as human beings. It was as if our connection to the Source had become squeezed by our fear of increased separation. This eventually formed a "core belief" that we were unworthy to be unconditionally loved by/as God, and by others.
        If we ever truly were once so directly connected to God, we have obviously forgotten a great deal of that. And in any case, at various points in our evolution (through the process of many, many incarnations, some believe), we have compared ourselves to God-like beings, but have primarily struggled with conflicting beliefs about our inherent worthiness to be whole and happy.
        This belief pattern disharmony manifested in "energy-blocks" -- to divine flow -- in areas of our body-mind that are associated with highly charged belief pattern conflict. (I'll take up the energy block topic again in the section, "Personal Energy Blocks -- And Planetary Significance".)

        As the story goes, given the above process on-going through many generations since our first incarnation here, there was a loss of conscious memory of the true heritage of God's children. Thus it would seem that sooner or later we began our evolution from the ground floor or "1st chakra level" (of primary focus) of consciousness with and within the physical body. But in any case, we have still retained an existential tension, or *divine intention*, drawing us to empathize, to love each other, to our highest aspirations, to try to LOVE ALL Beings. And we have evolved to some degree as a result.

 

Metaphysical Origins of The Grail


        Eventually, most of God's Children rise to the realization (indicated by various religions espousing an afterlife of one sort or another) that separateness from God is 'temporary,' and that *reality* is 'dimensional' and also 'multi-dimensional,' since all the dimensions resonate everywhere in the universe at the same time (whether you call it universal time or nonexistent time). In the West, we eventually initiate the quest for the holy grail. And thus began a true awakening of consciousness, and the increasingly conscious path of return of all souls with/in SELF realization as truly one with/as Mother-Father God Being.
        Note: In the East, the Yin-Yang concept (with attendant complex dynamics of Chi and it's mastery) are very similar to that of the Chalice (as considered here). The greatly increased interface of Eastern and Western religious views resulting from the Chalice Quest, did increase the mutual awareness of the different perspectives, however violently during some periods of time - referring to the Crusades for starters. That topic stream is considered in the section on "Pragmatic Balancing."

       Continuing this "Origins"/Evolution perspective, we eventually learn that the job of the ego is to keep the identity of separate 'beingness' - only to the degree that it is needed, and only until it is no longer needed, by the individual to (learn to) truly appreciate -- by experience, in the dimension of time and space -- all the individual (manifestations of) polarities and qualities of the universe, of the ever expanding Mind of God.
       We find that the quest for the Holy Grail (*the Tao* as the living balance of Yin and Yang, within and without *as above, so below*) is for the sake of experience, learning, and growth (while we are still) in the body -- in time and in space -- but always and essentially one WITH God. And that it (the learning process, however painful at times) is not for/as punishment or reward by a would-be 'separate god,' let alone one who desired or self-designed to be separate or aloof or "superior," or who compared the worthiness of beings to be loved. That Love simply IS, as provided by GOD, and that God awaits and responds to our every increase in the openness of our hearts (or heart chakra), We learn that comparisons are a function of the ego when it is unchecked by a still-developing heart chakra.

Part One

        The chalice, as a symbol, represents a number of spiritual and psychological dynamics relating to the role of manifested beings (in physical form on this planet). It is a matrix of symbols with ancient ritual significance, and with particular significance in its own arrangement of these symbols. One of the primary roles of the Chalice is the balance or synthesis of the Yin and Yang qualities, as a symbol and concept. Contemplation of the conceptual meaning of the chalice and its qualities has led me to two acronyms that describe a positive juxtaposition of the Yin and Yang qualities of Divinity. The more Yang aspects of the Chalice are in this acronym for CHALICE: "Courageous Heart Acknowledged --Light Integrated Creative Energy." The more Yin acronym for CHALICE would be as follows: "Centered Heart Allowing Love Integrated Compassionate Evolvement." For purposes practical to this essay I will integrate these two and explain the aspects pertinent to the discussion that follows.
        This combined acronym for C H A L I C E stands for Centered Heart Acknowledged, Light-Integrated, Creative Energy. There are three main statements here delineated by the placement of comma's. The first statement refers to the balance of opposite polarities -- male/female, left/right, light/dark, outer/inner, manifested/unmanifested, positive/negative, expressive/receptive, thinking/feeling, intellect/intuition, etc., and this balance coming about through centering and resonating with the Source of all Creation in the heart. Thus the Light of all created elements is integrated, interrelated, interpermeated, such that all elements are compassionately synergistic in the highest loving will and divine order. Hence the second statement -- "Light-Integrated." "Creative Energy" says what all this is and what it does on the earth plane. I consider the HEART CHAKRA as the "bridging" chakra or chalice-Chakra, between the lower and upper chakras.
        In ancient tradition, the chalice is a vessel used in spiritual ceremonies for changing the form of one element to that of another --transmutation. The common themes are "wine to sacred blood," and "lead to gold," but both are analogous to the higher meaning -- from the profane to the sacred. Another tradition, or a myth, is the loss and never ending search for the Holy Grail. Such myths always relate a high moral or spiritual meaning, involve a quest and also involve great hardship with male and female main roles attempting to become united and balanced, while the surrounding political environment teeters on destruction pending the successful outcome.
        As regards the souls manifestation on the earth plane, the chalice represents the etheric latticework or matrix of electromagnetic energies that bridge the unmanifested Self with the self in matter form. This living, crystalline matrix attracts form to itself in accordance with the particular magnetic qualities that the soul determines appropriate for a particular lifetime. The ego aspect of the Being identifies with the human form and establishes associations with other forms, establishes boundaries (identifies, differentiates), likes and dislikes, and keeps track of such things. The Higher Self (that aspect of our Being most unified with God) maintains the flow of divine energies through the formed self, keeping things moving with continuous integrated pure awareness.
        The Being perceives and responds with divine intention, love, wisdom, etc., while interacting in a formed environment with a formed body in ever new experiences. Most metaphysical schools of thought teach that eventually the form is transmuted or "transcended" and one attains oneness with the Supreme. According to some traditions, such an evolution (or a more or less comparable one) would be only for those Beings who were "good enough" to qualify. Other traditions hold that all Beings continue to evolve eternally after "completing" this earth-form process. Or, the form is eventually fully integrated with the Soul, and the physical body is retained for use at will, while evolving in conscious awareness on or about the earth plane. I say "or..." because in the case of Avatars, or "World Teachers," it depends on a conscious choice that is available at a certain level of evolution. And in the later case the physical body would evolve to a more efficiently functioning and streamlined form.

        Thus, the chalice is a multi-dimensional matrix, serving as a transformer of higher vibration energies to provide for the focus of the personality and ego. The ego, in its ideal state, serves this channel of Divine Energy, of God. It/We can, with its/our free will, however, constrict the flow or expand and allow the flow. In the West, we generally associate the ego only with the action of constriction. And yet, how could one experience learning and growth through "mistakes" or otherwise, if the Self had no free will to direct the "body-mind." Body-mind is the term we use to refer to the complex of mental, emotional and physical bodies.
        The Self experiences life, expands its awareness and understanding of Divine principles or qualities. It does this via the attributes of perception and reflection, of energy manipulation, of creation and manifestation, of thought and feeling, of movement and interaction with creation. In essence, it experiences and transcends the limitations that it creates and/or perceives, in order for itself to experience the (more expanded, more overall self-aware) Self.

Note about the term, *Intention*:
From an Eastern philosophical perspective (and as used here), "Intention" pertains more to *Being* than *doing*, to *motivation* than *goal*, and implying that what comes from such *Presence* will naturally accomplish what is most needed. More about that at "On Potential Realities, Ideals, Goals, and Accomplishment" at the Evolution Trends page (about Mankind's potential for maturity, creativity, health, and enjoyable sustainability). And at "Heart's Desire, Ideals, & Accomplishment" at "the Goal Chart page" (Aug'11) is About clarifying what we most truly want, and how we can have that... also about HOW we respond to Pain & Loss (whether caused by disease, ourselves, others, or the economy) and are brought back together again - the *how* that can MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.


Personal Energy Blocks -- And Planetary Significance

        I mentioned above that belief pattern disharmony manifests in "energy-blocks" -- to divine flow -- in areas of our body-mind that are associated with highly charged belief pattern conflict. Another way of looking at an energy block is to see it as a fixed perception or association that too finely filters and shades the energy flow, and in some cases, conceivably, shuts it off. Hence, healing is a matter of removing any energy blocks and reestablishing full connection with God's unconditional love, and resonation with the original blueprint for the multi-dimensional matrix, the purest extension of the Higher Self. But that is very quick way of stating what is, for most people, a very involved and long-term personal process, and one that could easily be applied to the societal process of evolution as well. (Jesus apparently did it much quicker, but that's only if he was kidding when he spoke about re-incarnation.)

        I elaborate more in the section below on Relationship to the Body-Mind Integrative Process, but to first add a few more words in regard to the social application... We have the choice to self-create (evolve into) a new race of Divine Humans capable of experience that is "multi-dimensional" and unconditionally loving. This race is evolving through learned experience by free will and self-mastery, not by blind obedience and ignorance in a utopian environment. We do have the opportunity to create a more utopian world; however, we as individuals first need to reverse the momentum that threatens the planet as a whole. We must take responsibility for healing our own internal separation and resulting external discord and pollution.

        Love allows. Love is the source of healing, as it is the source of Divine Energy Flow. The "Temple Diamond Chalice" refers to the heart chakra, which "bridges" the lower and upper chakras. This is where body-mind-soul integration bases its action. This is where the ideal becomes real. The mantra for this chakra is "So Hum" or "I Am That I Am."


          [Extended NOTE: When I use the term "evolution" at this website, I am referring to the psycho-social evolution of humankind, resulting in lasting change on the physical level, not the physical as we generally consider it (with the exception of the brain). And usually from the perspective or paradigm that looks at the recent psycho-social trends - in comparison to the overall course of mankind.
          And the above aside about Jesus (and re-incarnation) might be a clue to how we actually evolve - not just by learning from "history" - but also from our own individual soul process (with other souls, of course) over thousands/millions of years. Worst case scenario (?): we are here mainly to learn- the hard way if necessary, to love each other, and we keep coming back, because in that case our souls are more or less permanent, reincarnating in yet another body, to pick up where our souls' education left off.
          And IF so, we might consider that there will always be "new souls" in class - along with the old souls. Afterall, how boring would it be otherwise? laughing And given a little deductive reasoning from there, one would have to consider that we might not, on the whole, change the course of the planet - due to the relatively new souls who are still learning basic ethics (at 3rd chakra level [3rd of seven chakras]), as they enjoy their power trips in positions of leadership at the expense of others. I said "might not" - if only because Obama would seem to be a sign that we may actually work things through. Yes, we CAN. Because, well, having put a fair amount of study into the science of change and a little dancing with the political grassroots thing (you might have noticed a few statements at this site)... Personally, I'm curious about the best timing for choosing my next set of parents. Wink
          Under that "worst case scenario" no action is wasted- it's all part of the learning. Don't get me wrong- that doesn't mean we can't still shoot for efficiency! [Those statements (ok, some of them) might tempt you to be curious and contemplative about the full range of ethics and their chakra correlations, about definining roles in planetary stewardship and responsibility in that regard, and possibly about a few other things. Meanwhile, I'm working with my "bad" metaphysical (and slightly smartass) humor. And to prove it, I've exiled a page or two at this site totally full of it - and if not carefull, you may have them re-appear before you! (Seems best to make paradox your friend - since the bad side of its humor is killer stuff - hard learning for the emotional body, the softening and expanding of which makes it go down easier in the long run - or so I hope at least). -cp, 2009])

Part Two

        Part II of "Soul Synthesis" regards the personal/ spiritual growth process, from the hows and whys of initial re-establishment (re-induction) of Karmic patterning during infancy, to the eventual release of the patternings later in life. During the intense processes encountered in integrating the emotional body we may need to remind ourselves of the spiritually healthy relationship between the different levels of self. The relationships among the different aspects of the Body-Mind are an important part of that. (See far right column).

          From here you might be able to see the relationship to my vocations: to my writing and artwork (Chalice Productions), and to the professional roles of massage therapist and counselor, Reiki Master. This is basically all about "multi-dimensional change facilitation" (which sounds like a lot, but then how often does real change happen on only one level ?). All of whose primary directions have been inspired or invigorated by the 3+ dimensional form I "saw" back in 1985. The   C H A L I C E   and its Relationship to Body-Mind and Personal Growth

More on the Chalice as Matrix and related philosophical aspects:

        As I mentioned above, my interests in the Chalice quickly led to the view of it as a theory-matrix weaver. I mean that as in a weaver of interconnected theories about the universe that otherwise might not be considered as connected and inter-affecting, let alone related. I include those (theories) that regard infinite capacity for flex and flow but with a plan of sorts (chaos theory ?).
          Questions: Is it conceivable that each living cell is by which the Father aspect of God has joined with the Mother aspect of God in order to create life on earth ? That for the sake of 'balance in the universe,' Male AND Female energies form a bio-electric charge of opposite polarities ? That through this it forms a vortex of energies that form "the chalice" ? That the Chalice not only symbolizes the "bridging" of the two realms (Male-Female, Yang-Yin, Form-Formlessness, etc), but represents an actual mechanism more than hinted at in quantum physics - the depth and breadth of which, could we understand it, would very likely explain our existence? What would make this bridging connection stronger ? What would open further the cell's doors to the Divine ? How about certain kinds of thoughts and feelings of unconditional love (or prayer, meditation, imagery, or some activity that encourages a similar focus) ?

         One might say that the above just couldn't be seen to have practical application, if one considers genetically related conditions. Yet, these considerations are addressed in depth in the essay, "Victims, Compassion, & Responsibility -- Notes on The Emotional-Body, Denial of Pain, & 'Easy Answers' (Not!)"

        The "chalice," as a dimension of our Being - whether metaphorical or as an actual matrix of bio-magnetic energies of multi-dimensional nature - utilizes the physical body as a vessel for transmutation of our "lower elements" into Light via life's dualistic predicaments. Hence, the body performs this service not just in spite of challenges, but largely by it's very design, storing previously-buried personal memories (and their associated resources), until perceived *safe* and/or *ready* to remember, thence complete the learnings began at an earlier time. Why? For one, our Being is designed for changing focus according to the circumstances or priorities of the moment, or according to a particular stage or period of growth. Our souls are natural multi-taskers, if you will, and utilize a well-designed system of bodies - physical, emotional, mental, bio-etheric - in the process of their integration.

        A primary purpose of the body, then, is to tell us, point-blank and in its own language, what we often have not otherwise perceived.  Learning to listen to this "Body-Mind" is likely the most highly efficient path for preventative health maintenance. It is also a primary means for reclaiming one's original essence and soul-infused Presence and "grounding" that via meaningful action on the earth plane.
        The term "Body-Memory" and relates to how, when, where, and why experience on any and every level of awareness is stored in the body, accessed and expressed - consciously and/or unconsciously. How this correlates functionally to one's anatomy, emotionality, mental routines, psycho-spiritual awareness, path, purpose, and integration, is not only fascinating, but actually describes an individual in a very practical way.         It is generally believed, by those who work with these dynamics, that the body does not store *all* memory, but only that which is perceived by the self as necessary for later completion of experience. [       WHICH APPROACH FOR EMOTIONS? In my opinion, based on discussion with various practitioners of EFT, the "Emo-Free" ("TAP" & related) systems work very well (and relatively quickly) for many people. And for vets and PTSD, EFT can "put the fire out". But it may not result in more than brief relief in cases where the cause of the trouble is based in, or critically anchored to, deep-seated emotions that were traumatically suppressed in early childhood. Per reasons as indicated at pages by yours truly, and/per those references of my teachers in body-centered psychology.
      I'm referring here to considerations in the difference between Gestalt, New Thought, EFT, and Behavioral schools of psychology, the different approaches to what some of us call "the emotional body", the cause of emotional pain, what we might call "true" preventative maintenance, etc. EFT seems to be a cross between Behavioral and New Thought(?). Behavioral is mainly about breaking the associated habits - mentally and otherwise. [I address this more in the essay, "Seven Phases of Growth".]
      Buddhists generally attempt transcendence or conscious sublimation of emotion, whereas Gestalt therapists focus on it, for the purpose of bringing "plants" of suppressed emotion -constructively- to the surface, so can move it out of it's covert-power position and thereby reduce the likelihood of it's ill-effects. That suppressed emotion is the core of (among other things) internal disorders, diseases, AND the unconscious projection of "stuff" on others - something ALL of us do to some degree (no one sees it at the time - except most everyone else. ha & ouch!).
      Which is best? Depends on your beliefs about cosmology/reincarnation/karma/transcendence etc, AND/OR what you've tried with what amount of success (among many other factors you would discuss w/your therapist).       -Chris Pringer   ]


        There is a form or metaphor that relates to family and to the body's cells, and it also relates to the Chalice. It serves as an essential part of the Chalice metaphor. In "My Cells - My Children" & other metaphorical prose for the 'Body-Parenting' Approach to Mind-Body Integration This refers to the metaphor of cells as children, the body as a family, and various aspects of our emotional body as inner-children. It is about ...ideally and eventually, lasting experience of connectedness with the Eternal Mother and Father. It also represents the ways that would most permanently (in the long run) avoid the pain of the separateness (and all our addictions and compulsions - mental, emotional, abuse of substance and material) and thus manifest resolution into awareness of Presence... and here we are being creative in our work and play to remind ourselves of the path, with the writing, art, and therapies that we offer and undertake.
        So how does the above metaphor relate to the Chalice? The Chalice metaphor seems to be both open and cohesive enough to easily synthesize most all the main archetypes and spiritual cosmologies. EG: In the chalice metaphor, all of these seem to have a useful place and bonded relationship, like family members, in a single working/playing matrix of the Mother Chalice (or more conceptually consistent with the above, the "Mother-Father Chalice").

        One of the primary values of the Chalice as metaphor is that it not only allows for paradox*, but actually is based on it or in it, as are many other mystical belief systems. E.G.: How can a just and loving God allow for such gross unfairness as exampled by a child who lives for two weeks in constant excruciating pain and then dies? This is a paradox to basic premises of Christianity, is it not? Conventional religions and philosophies can only come vaguely close to this capability (of explaining how or why such can be) via the concept of "mystery" or "miracle": "only God knows..."
        Whereas, the Chalice perspectives (a mix of Western & Eastern metaphysical views, including karma and reincarnation) can provide a pragmatic, and at the same time compassionate, understanding of the how's and why's of the more difficult experiences on the Earth plane, as well as a view of the universe and how it "works;" one that allows hope and a sense of eternal purpose, no matter what the situation is. The masters would say, "Simple, but not easy, some things can be taught, other things can only be learned," and would never encourage or allow more pain and hardship than absolutely necessary for any learning to be achieved. Every experience counts and none is wasted in the evolution through initiation, maturation, and transformation of mankind. (Clarification: it is my understanding that when someone insists on learning the hard way in spite of counsel to the otherwise, that insistence might indicates necessity for learning that way (up to a point, at least), and then a master may allow it until another way will be learned.
        The amount of structure - eg: enforcement of boundaries and rules - that is most effective in the learning process varies from individual to individual, depending on how far along they are on the path of learning. eg: Structure is basic for establishing the mental, emotional, and bio-electric foundation and organization of the individual. This requirement is not about a question of worthiness, considering that God created ALL souls *as Love* and to remain worthy of Love - unconditionally. It was man's idea to use the best psychology of the day - religion, to employ shame to bind the mind of the populace, lest they have to bind the body, fearing, essentially, that people would not be able to resist the influence to disrespect others, even violently. But it worked not just for the untrustworthy (if such authorities were actually that discriminating about who did or did not have or exercise sufficient education, ethics, or morals). Hence, religion is a broad brush, trusting all to be untrustworthy. BODY-MIND AWARENESS, at the core of preventive health awareness, is one of the most simple, efficacious, & cost-effective forms of HEALTH INSURANCE there can be. Hence, massage is far from just "a luxury item," and bodywork therapies can be indispensable for the healing of certain conditions.

MUSCLES RELATE TO ATTACHMENTS - to what we use to take our stance, to hold our place, to perceive and respond to our environment, and to extend who we are and/or want to be. Or used to be (in too many cases, perhaps).
That speaks not only to the body's condition and function, but to how it communicates awareness of where one is along one's path (of becoming who one truly is).

And actually, for the most part, they would be encouraged to re-awaken and build upon what I believe to be a NATURAL INCLINATION - conscious self-healing and continuous expansion of awareness. That is a primary goal of the Fascia Memory Project.

And the above goes FOR ALL OTHER ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES,to the degree that one utilizes them to improve such awareness and causative/pro-active connection with one's body-mind, and to employ the most effective tools for maintaining/improving one's health under any given condition or circumstance.

(ie: those built up about the year 2012, the Global Warming Crisis, related prophecies)

          Here is where I try to make a little more worldly sense of chalice or grail aspects presented at this site, if you will bear with me for a few paragraphs. There are a number of considerations, various "realms" of them if you will, representing various solution oriented approaches for developing current realities into those we most want, and below is a virtual network of presentations and links to same.

          To Summarize the above sections on this page, the Holy Grail symbolizes the transmutation of the lower into the Higher, thus forming a bridge between God & Man, divinity and humanity (or increasing same in the case of our evolvement). All of which is all about the relationship of opposite extremes and (our balancing) Life's dynamics between them. More recently the grail has been interpreted as the womb or female holder of the bloodline of Christ. But (I maintain that) in the perspective of 'balance in the universe' - both Male AND Female energies, via the charge of opposite polarities - form the vortex of the chalice as the vehicle of human-to-divine transformation. Granted, much of that process happens in the womb and is carried forward via the DNA -- the vehicle for sacred geometry in the biology of humanity!
          The quest for the holy grail was about the loss of connection to God and the striving to recover it, so far as I understand it. The setting of the story is during a critical time of divergence between the philosophers (who also served as the closest thing to psychologists at the time) and the most powerful religious authorities of that period. The divergence had much to do with the acceptance (or not) of intuitive-based thinking vs analytical-based thinking - what we would now call the "Left/Right brain split".

          In the 5th century, the church sought & destroyed the Gnostic gospels, highly related to the pluralistic nature of early Christianity and the role of women (including bishops and prophets. The Gnostics were very large part of Christianity during 1st two centuries (see Related Philosophy section), a fact purposely ignored by much of written history. As if birthed out of the Dark Ages that followed such inquisitions, the crusades were commissioned by "the Church" -and not just from Europe to the Middle East, but also within Europe (! ie: against France's Cathars, the underground progeny of the Gnostics, and the Bloodline of Christ, of Mary Magdaline). Inquisitions *continued* in various countries over the following centuries. In that changing time in between the actual quest (roughly 500 AD) and the popularity of the grail legend (roughly 1400 AD?), there were many religious challenges to some of the greatest minds we've ever known (ie: Galileo, Michaelangelo, Copernicus, etc)... In his book, No Boundary, Ken Wilber elaborates on the above noted L/R split and the psycho-spiritual significance of history and the evolution of consciousness during those periods. His chart, "Therapies and Levels of "The Spectrum of Consciousness'" has been included in the below section, " 'The Lords of Culture' - A story about 'Communication, Emotion, and the Body-Mind Split'"

In "The High History Of The Holy Grail" at the SanGraal web site, Vincent Bridges provides enough historical information to give substance not only to a surprising amount, and critical aspects, of the arthurian legend, but also enough to lend important context to the history of western religion and spirituality. He summarizes much with "...The pattern is clear. Around the turn of the thirteenth century, the Grail Romances offered a direct challenge to the authority of Rome, one that Rome could not answer for fear of exposing her own shaky position. ...And if the Celtic heresy could not be brought to the sword directly, then the land of England could be put under interdiction, a terrible form of religious coercion in which the church effectively goes on strike. ...The Celtic Church gradually faded away over the next century. The image of the Grail, though, did not fade away. ...The spiritual current went underground, surfacing in the Renaissance, and then again in the Rosecrucians, and again in the nineteenth century."

          So what has that to do with current politics? Is there a relationship between the current increase in extremisms (during the last 15 years' - 1995 to 2010, but particularly the middle 10 of that) - especially as regards (the polarizing of) politics and global relations - and the increased interest in Holy Grail and Chalice topics? I'm referring to the dramatic rise in popularity of books and movies on the topic, including The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and The Symbol by Dan Brown, Holy Blood Holy Grail (by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, & Henry Lincoln), other freshly written novels, as well as renewed interest in the old ones. My study of psychology and politics would lead me to surmise that any such relationship would be unconscious. AND that this kind of unconsciousness has never gotten in the way of people doing interesting things before. May I offer some thoughts, first esoteric, then pragmatic:
          How about the (contemplation of) BALANCE of polarities, this balance occurring via one's rising above the level of polarization, rising by realizing the existential purpose for opposites and duality in the existence of mankind (or at least one of them) - that being *personal and spiritual growth.* How else could we have diversity within any given realm of thought or action? It's said one can't know where the middle (and anywhere else) is without knowing where the extremes are. And so there are those on earth that are so willing to show us . On a more positive side of that, you might enjoy a few essays included below, those noted in the summary for and at the end of this section, and maybe "A 'Purposeful Existence' Theory" in the section "On Learning, Fairness, Truth, and Peace" at the Evolution Trends page. These go more into the anthropology and psychology of how we got where we are, including the "Left-Right Brain Split", as well as the "Body-Mind Split" (very related, but not exactly the same)

Rapid technological and economic changes have destabilized not only established habits of work, but long-standing habits of thinking and acting. This has been the source of much dislocation and stress. But ... technological and economic change has also opened the door for questioning much that was once taken for granted... The questioning we see all over the world today of sex roles and relations is thus part of a much larger questioning. It is also part of a much larger movement for change: the global movement toward more democratic and egalitarian relations in both the so-called private and public spheres."

          Now for a more pragmatic consideration: How does/can our innate desire for balance (including the "extreme" of thinking so other-worldly) translate into manifesting *Balance* in daily life, not to mention community life, and that even on the global level? What if the more ecumenical church organizations (both of America and of the world, ideally) challenged political parties to chose a platform based on bringing balance into arenas now beleaguered due to extremism, encouraging a politically balanced approach, both within our borders and without? Including an "Instant Runnoff" style voting system (so ALL parties could offer and support candidates). And promised to serve as highly vocal cheer leaders on the side of any party which did so? The quest for the Holy Grail might just be completed by a sufficient number of embodied souls striving for pragmatic balance manifested on this earth plane. And thus earning a better life for themselves - very likely in "the next life," but maybe in this one, having created greatly reduced suffering, not to mention increased health potential, for many many people for centuries to come.           I believe *Peace* does come with a sword - the sword of truth - but which is applied in one's own mind to discern applicable reality from that which is not. *Fairness* is just one of the more basic attributes that determine how people get along - in peace, capable of recognizing "greatness." [from "On Learning, Fairness, Truth, and Peace" at Evolution Trends Page which includes refs to (the law of) karma, reincarnation, and the "updated" prophecies for the year 2012.] Related Note: All things considered, particularly those noted in the PolyPsyArts Home page intro... if GREAT changes do occur *in* year 2012 - compared to the years before and after - it will definitely be a threshold effect (and surprising to most people, including myself.) - cp, June'11, Jan'12]. Besides, most of my PolyPsy pages provide the basis and context for what I believe needs to happen for us to sustain healthy growth on this planet, let alone any at all. I do believe 2012 IS a likely time limit upon the *beginning* of earnest changes required for even the later. Have we *earnestly* begun those changes yet? Depends on one's perspective, of course. "Teach The Truth, And Change Will Come From Within"
A Long-Term Perspective (only?) [added 8/31/09]


          To paraphrase many teachers I have studied, I could say "Teach the truth, and change will come from within." This means from within the teacher as well as those taught. On the other hand, it seems that most activists, even the more "liberal" among them/us, tend to believe or, in effect, act like they believe, that change will only come a) by capturing & convincing and/or buying the elected representatives, or b) by changing 'the system' by [any] other means. Because these activists do not believe, bottom line, that enough people will learn [a perspective] and act on it, effect equivalent change in the law of the land, thence effect change in the culture of the populace. Or at least within the time frame that they think is reasonable to expend effort and expect support for their efforts. They try "teaching" or informing first, but only for such a short phase and generally so ineffectively, that this pittance of "instruction" serves simply to explain their strategy and approach.
          However, teaching 'the truth of a situation' in an objective way takes time, if it is to lead people to change themselves and thence their culture. It works faster if you can teach the opposing leaders sufficiently well to getting their common agreement. Of course, I acknowledge the difficulty in that approach. Like preventative maintenance approach in health care, this kind of long-term commitment-demanding teaching is just not as "sexy" (glamorous, exciting, heroic, etc) as drugs and the surgical route, Rambo and prison systems, or (violent) political revolution. I could say that "change will happen when learning becomes sexy." (But as a belief, that would propose an epistemological conflict). Perhaps the librarian movie thrillers and their outcrop of children's dolls is actually one way to go (speaking of the genre/theme of books and movies that seemed to be inspired by "The Da Vinci Code").
          Perhaps I should add that, at the very least, I still see great potential in various activist approaches - particularly those that teach pragmatic citizen participation in democracy, or that otherwise -constructively- encourage people to become interested in finding ways to help create a better world. So, should we begin/continue to vote with our feet (in the street, holding signs)? Of course (IMO), IF you believe it will make a difference - in your heart, in others' hearts, or...           And then there is leading/action in your own way on your own individual path by your own example (which is certainly not to say that such leading can't often be done in concert with others' activities on similar paths). But I guess that means a lot of people searching for their own spiritual paths. Not the easiest approach either- unless you are a good communicator, hence it can be a great way to feel very misunderstood. Then the task of learning to transcend emotions without denying them - also not easy. (But some would say I digress.) "Paradigm Shifts" - A Pragmatic Summary
(July, 2010)

          The term "Paradigm shift" refers to an evolvement in consciousness, in perspective of ourselves individually AND socially (micro-culturally and/or macro-culturally). "Paradigm shifts" occur not all at once generally, but over a number of generations as thresholds are reached (illustrated by "the 100th Monkey" effect). Consider that the major resistance to the momentums of change (engaged/maintained toward those thresholds) are mainly related to ignorance and/or survival mechanisms and, of course, to the pain at one level or another (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual/religious) and related stressors and/or fear of same - all as a result of that resistance. And thereby, the resistance is due to the maintainance of ignorance, overly channelled focus, and other limits on awareness - to the degree there is insufficient relief to process pain or changes (possibly including shock) and gain perspective on the learning process.
          That is, basic education (skills-based, cultural, arts, and concept sciences of the given era) has been and still is essential. Of course. But the *relief* from pain & stressors, at least periodic relief, along with the challenges we engage or provide for each other, is essential for humans to process information, to reflect on that process, to derive meaning and long-term implications of same as well as short-term, to process related emotional & spiritual/religious perceptions/beliefs (and related memories), and evolve into more aware human beings. EG: these processes -- required to move through the stages prior to reaching thresholds resulting in "paradigm shifts" -- occur at different rates under different conditions, and require time, space, and myriad individual and group sub-processes, including both stressors and relief from stressors.

Right - there is this notion that the evolved man is androgenous, testosterone depleted, essentially cerebral... apparently a dream of some benign but unconsciously reverse-bigotted gay man or woman (my best educated guess). No. Guys, the best designed fighter plane for defending against those who are not yet capable of listening, can also articulate the most beautiful aerobatic performance evoking "how-do-they-do-that?!" from so many, can it not? And that's just a machine without self-awareness.

   Note 2: "THE SENSITIVE MALE" can indeed be totally straight (apparently the truly odd one in today's world), not that this makes one superior or more deserving (or the contrary) in any way. And of course, Universal Law allows the same degree of 'diversity' for "THE BALANCED FEMALE" - to be totally straight, or otherwise, as her soul so designs the current life for her.

   Note 3: The symbol that has commonly become recognized as "The Star of David" actually existed long long BEFORE it was used by the Jews. 'The Lords of Culture' and Listening
A story about
Language, Relationship, and the Body-Mind Split

An Anthropology of Intelligence & Paradigms in Context

          Long ago, the lords of culture determined that if everyone expressed everything they felt, the world would be a din of noise. They thought that the noise of celebration might be tolerated (depending on whose it was in some cases). But the noise of those that were judged less worthy of love and respect - and thereby less worthy of having their basic needs met - those were considered noises of pain and suffering. And only so much of that was going to be tolerated by these lords of judgement. The problem, to them, became more about the noise, and less about the basic needs being met.
          Because to them, someone always needed to be on top while someone else needed to be on bottom. The lords figured that the ones on bottom were going to be in pain, and therefore wanting to make noise about it. Wherever they ruled and made decisions to solve "the problem", from that point on, emotional expression was thus no longer allowed to be genuine. Ways of communicating, especially of pain, had to be instilled - at least among those who were having less of their basic needs met. Met, that is, in limited ways compared to those lords -who compared people by what they owned- and made themselves the judges of others' worthiness. Thereby, they also made themselves the judges of distribution - of resources and wealth, punishment and poverty.

          Communication of pain eventually became judged as "manipulation" for the purpose of getting something desired (and not necessarily "needed"). Soon enough, standards of "toughness" and "courage" became based on how one communicated pain - or rather how one did not. Only among family and intimates could this code be broken, though not in every family or relationship. Parents had begun to admonish their children, "Cry and I'll give you something to cry about." However, within any one given culture, non-intimates could often enough (?) gauge one another's current feelings by what we called "gut feeling," without words or overt gesture.
          But what about those feelings that had come to be increasingly stuffed away, suppressed, sub-conscious?
          As we know, what is supressed and held sub-conscious has its ways of getting out in some form or another - often in very unwanted ways. As it happened, Diseases came about - due to the suppression of emotion, particularly the communication of pain, and the stresses around that. Adding insult to injury, eventually guilt was actually felt just for feeling pain, and even for the desire to express that pain.

          After a time it was noticed here and there, that many diseases could be cured by the rare ones who simply listened more deeply to others. Those people who somehow retained those capabilities became known as shamen, medicine women, or "empathics" - as "healers". It was rare enough when one actually survived to adulthood with such skills intact, let alone to become known and trusted to use such skills for the good of others. Not to mention do so with a sufficient amount of respect from others to not be condemned for witchcraft, and sometimes even executed, by those who acted as lords of culture in their communities.           But rarely could they tell people HOW they did what they did. That just wasn't understood. Including how to hear the broken inner-communications and reflect them back as integral, confusion-cleared, meaningful and re-assembled. Which often led to dissolving the guilt for the feelings that were totally natural under the circumstances that led to them, to resolving the confusion, to recovering and re-organizing their memories, and to setting things aright. And the people could then be whole again, so to recover their lives. But rarely could anyone really understand how the healers did what they did - except for those whose healing was thorough. So it was a curious mystery to most people. Because, by this time, the mind and body had become split.
          Because those things that one could not safely talk about (without being/feeling judged) eventually could not be safely felt, then could not be acknowledged as real, and so could not be considered. If it could not be trusted, so neither could the body - physical or emotional - from which they originated. And so, without the rare ones tending, disconnection, disfunction, and disease became more a part of life. And generally, people became less communicative, more armored, more unknown to each other, and more forgetful of the causes of things. Routines -and denial of the ways out of them- became more normal. Only the healers and mystics (conscious of consciousness) kept track of the changes and trends that marked and corregated the path of the psyche, and charted the cycles and patterns that signaled likely changes to come. They realized the internal world as cause, the external as effect.
          And so to avoid confusing minds of those who could no longer hear -so to know where and how to look- these healing listeners usually carried things with them so they could attribute the healings, at least primarily, at least in public, to talismans, herbs, ceremony, "magic cures," etc. [True origins of the "Placebo Effect"?] Soon enough, however, such tending to others eventually came to be considered meddling by the lords - the work of evil, and sometimes even a threat to their power. The teaching of inner realities became dangerous, its knowledge and sources hidden, its communication guarded and put in code.

          Down through the generations the nature of such disconnected expression by societies effected the nature of what was culturally allowed to be felt, free of judgement or of violent response. Diseases spread in number and complexity as the stress of suppression of complete and genuine communication had become endemic. Because feeling and expression are, by human nature, intimately tied. And to disturb that tie, just as within the individual psyche, is to disturb and create splits within the cultural psyche.
          Further down through the generations the nature of communication among any one given culture became very complex due to these strained bonds between emotion and communication. Between any two different cultures, the strain in communication became sometimes impossible, and the problem of getting basic needs met began to be projected by one culture of people upon another. The split within the psyche had already manifested the splits within and among families of a culture, and so now there became splits among different cultures.

          Because, as the judgments within any one culture stacked up, those about other cultures did also. Relations between cultures became more strained. Communication of pain between them had by now become a rarity, being viewed with extreme suspicion; it warned of covert acts - maybe already done(!). Or of plans for deceit, thievery, or worse. It became easy for the lords of judgment within a culture to unite their own people, simply by projecting their most feared demons upon another culture, blamed as the causes of pain and poverty.
          To quiet the complaints of his own citizens, all a dictator needed to do was remind them that "to complain, is to whine, is to show disrespect, is to signal impotence - not only within the culture but to "those people over there," and that is a threat - not only to the family but to the nation!" Basic needs began to be met through battles and wars, instead of trade or sharing. Such means of re-distribution - of resources and wealth as well as punishment and poverty - began to be thus threatened or administered across cultures. These were often called "Holy Wars" - although the shamans said that holy wars were those fought inside each conscious person with the sword of truth.           All this happened thousands of years ago, of course, with some exceptions among a very few indiginous cultures, considered "uncivilized".

... ... ? Evolution ? ... ...
of character and creativity, purpose and structure, health and healing, social and cultural healing, and more? [YES, there are links nearby to more positive, uplifting, and pro-active writings about the evolution of mankind (and no references to Creationism). But meanwhile, to finish or evolve the current thought] ...


          At some point in the evolution of man, if we are to evolve, whether on this planet or another, this age or another... When everyone's basic needs are met [per "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs"]... there would be less need *felt* - consciously or unconsciously - for expression of extreme pain. The levels of pain, one culture and sub-culture to another, would be more similar. The chasms of difference in perceived self-worth, as well as the difference in judgment felt from "the Lords of Culture", will be greatly lessened. The pressure felt to withhold genuine feelings would drop considerably, and the armor between people and cultures would begin shedding.
          At that point [which I'll call "Paradigm 3"?] the bar begins to be raised on the nature of communications - on it's quality, clarity, and meaningfulness. The devolution process described above begins to reverse. Eventually the expression of pain among the general populace (besides in the therapy room or between intimates) becomes a meaningful part as it takes it's natural place along with all the other meaningful parts of emotional communication (including joy, exuberance, halarity, exasperation, wonderment, etc). EG: The expression of pain would not be at the center of communication, let alone put at the center by either the one expressing it or perceived as such by the one hearing it. Therefore, far less often would it be "felt" as needing to take a leading role in one's expression (consciously or unconsciously), then suppressed, re-suppressed, or otherwise hidden, thus multiplying the stress of past or ongoing painful events.           Emotional honesty would be naturally considered whenever we use the words "honest" or "integrity". Instead of being considered as noise to be ignored or muffled by judgement or punishment, or the sign post indicator of less potent [sic] sub-cultures. Standards of "courage" would be based more on completeness and depth of communication as well as action, including vulnerability as well as passion. Winning and losing might determine prizes, but never worthiness for that kind of love which -then- would also be deemed as the mark of a true person.
          Emotions and communications would be understood, diseases would be rare, since most have been due to stress, due to violence or abandonment, or fear of same. All of which has been born out of disconnected *incomplete communications* - and thereby due to someone's being made, or allowed to feel, less worthy of love and respect. ("But what about..." Well, consider that some things likely originated much farther back than you heard about them.) Competition then becomes about creativity and solving the problems related to inequality and injustice. Sports become truly about what we like to proclaim they are about. Distribution of resources and wealth then comes without distribution of punishment and poverty.

          Emotional intelligence - often referred to as "EQ" in complementary reference to "IQ" - can expand other capacities related to "IQ". After therapy or other means of healing, of re-integration of our "stuff", as gestaltists and body-centered therapists might say... Then, as we exercise, develop, expand, and feed those cells related to the completed, reintegrated areas of the brain , those areas previously shut off from the others by their association with those previously suppressed memories and feelings, then the cells there begin waking up and contributing to the brain's productivity, via recovery or replacement of channels of access. Cells in neighboring areas of the brain are effected by the added micro-currents by resonation, and so their contributions are enhanced as well. One's intelligence grows like a garden - to the degree it is allowed/ encouraged to receive nourishment. Enhancement of emotional intelligence thus contributes to intellect and even to analytical capacity. [ed.8/9/10]
          Another way to look at it: Metaphorically speaking: if certain compartments of your toolkit (whether for whole tools, or just for some of their attachments), had snakes springing out and biting you whenever you opened them, then you probably became less motivated to open the tool kit over time. That's how emotional baggage effects how much or even whether you use certain/various capacities in your brain. Denial is a mechanism for coping with pain, including emotional pain, of course. Metaphorically countering, you should be happy to know that there are means to go into the toolkit, tame the snakes, and thus recover those avoided compartments. Same goes for any areas of data storage that have been avoided. EG: The brain is like a tool kit, as well as a memory access device and memory storage device. With your Heart/Mind in charge of the tool kit, that is, at least from the metaphysical perspective. In any case, maybe our tool kits are far more alike than we believe - maybe it's the details of accessing the tools that differ the most from individual to individual. [ed. 8/9, 9/3, 2010]

Summary Note & Clarification: Emotional Intelligence does not necessarily imply Emotional Integration: To apply that distinction in a short summary of the above: The self-management of pain, buttons, issues and related communications, IS one way of describing EQ. However, A good actor can portray perfect EQ, and we can call that "practice", and that -all by itself- might work well in the workplace in the judgement of many. In the long run though, for those with submerged highly charged challenges, that will work only as good as window dressing and may even better disguise a walking time bomb. Whereas emotional integration towards conscious -and LONG-TERM constructive self-management of emotional material- pertains not to the behavioral practice of EQ (such as taught in EQ seminars for businesses), but to actual therapeutic emotional healing and the expressed results of that via therapy, self-applied personal growth work, meditation, etc. Such bottom-up integral development of EQ can thereby expand other capacities related to "IQ", and thereby increase IQ. Perhaps far more important than the relationhip to IQ are the results of reducing stress on internal organs as well as tension in connective tissue & muscles: internal equilibrium, less tendency to disease and injury, more energy and focus for life enhancement, optimal productivity, and long-term health - the heart of preventative health maintenance. [add. 9/4/10]

          And, you may ask, "how to handle 'people who would just go on and on and on and...' "? For one, that is relative. Some folks practically demand well-summarized sound bytes (except from those they consider their own superiors or who pay them, of course). And more than a person type, that is actually about an attitude that is becoming prevalent in dense populations. Secondly, an adequate therapist recognizes when a client uses repetition, elaboration, or performance to avoid the real causes of pain. And guides from there. And "Co-Counseling" or "Re-Evaluation Counseling" teaches the rest of us how to listen effectively, which can often be the beginning of healing.
          And yes, there are highly influencial cultures or sub-cultures that consider most emotional expression (other than anger) as unbecoming of a true man. Well, my response to that perspective is, who needs EQ (emotional intelligence) only in women and gays (to the degree that actually or effectively applies), considering that's been going on for as long as it has with the results being our current state of the world? EG: That world wherein, -due to the influence of "Lords of Culture" in the ways noted above- only in the last 60 years are significant numbers of people beginning to feel appalled or guilty about utilizing wars ("holy" or otherwise) and colonization for acquiring resources.
          I believe that when enough straight males come to utilize EQ (to a sufficient degree - they don't all need to be [fill in with name of your favorite most sensitive all-dude stud on TV, etc]), things will change [per "Paradigm 3" noted above; "Paradigm 2" was back when the "Body-Mind Split" - noted further above.] Besides, if needed, I can testify that a totally straight male can not only have EQ, but utilize it. More importantly, as those EQ capabilities began to be allowed and accessed more - my creativity and intellectual capacities expanded as well - yes, my IQ went up. (Please feel free to tell me I'm not alone here.) That is why, when I talk about "diversity", I'm referring to that which makes up the balance in many realms of life, including talent, aspiration, purpose, direction, the physical attributes, and even aspects of awareness and consciousness, and the myriad realms that compose each of those and all the rest.           Note: Beneath anger is loss or the fear of loss. Loss is essentially about sources of true happiness: love, respect, and/or companionship. Although one common neurosis is about 'things' - projecting supressed feelings onto things. Feelings about persons or other perceived sources of happiness that are no longer present - much like with an addiction; or it can be an addiction. Healing takes time, and denial is a means of postponing the healing until one is ready to deal with the pain - with various factors determining how long a time that may take, related to how benign or destructive that may be to the environment and/or ones psyche. [None of that is to provide "an excuse" for anyone for whatever - those are just some cause-effect basics if/as/when needed to begin with.           And what of "the Lords of Culture" - here referring, of course, to the intolerant encouragers of apathy and denial? Well, please understand that 'those people' are not only they who exist at distant heights. But also those who, through their own denial of their own pain, have thus been programmed to pass on their beliefs about change - that is, that no change will ever really happen. And in fact, is it not true that each of us has been handed the opportunity to play that role, at one time or another? And how did we handle it?
          And what happens to all "lords" is that they either continue to have the power we give them, or we realize our own power, and go from there. Or it can be put this way: we either buy into that attitude or energy - whomever it pops out of, to whatever degree - or we don't. Related: Investments and the economy are not just about monetary currencies. AND it's not so much about government styles ("isms") - because what works for a local or culture is what works, and call it what you like - maybe "whatworksism", or maybe just "common sense" which necessarily includes a good dose of compassion. Because people work best when they work together and/or individually cooperatively. [Related writings or links nearby.]

          In recognition that new concepts need to be digested one at a time: Have you ever noticed how sometimes your understanding of something changes when you read it a second time? Maybe again the third time or even again after that? Well, there *is* a lot in this essay, obviously. It seemed I had to keep rewriting it - to reintegrate of all the little branches it increasingly encompassed - as if already a part of some web which was unearthed and rendered as went along. And to make sense out of that to the reader, some of it possibly new material to many (or new perspectives on old material), given the range of concepts, especially when each are related to the other concepts as explored here. The title of Ken Wilber's book, *No Boundary*, is a play on concepts and paradigms. Read and find for yourself. Individuality (IMO, based on my studies and application) is a much more intricately developed capacity than most people conceive. The Self can be forever mined - tho most would consider that selfish. However, the most creative and contributing people though history spent a great deal of time exploring the nature of consciousness. The ego's true role is to maintain an individuality in order for us to fully appreciate the diversity of all Life, to facilitate the challenge and gift of experience of relationship and all the learning that entails. The right brain works with the stew of things, the left with the salad, the whole brain makes what it makes from both. And the "whole mind" integrates that and much more, including "the heart", for practical application from there. Indeed, (esoterically speaking) the brain is one primary tool of the mind, and is subject (ideally, or at least eventually in ones evolution) to the integrated mind and heart (eg: to the inter-developed higher chakras). Notes on Therapies and Levels of "The Spectrum of Consciousness":
      In Wilber's Chart, the levels shown at the top of the chart are are the more shallow levels of consciousness, and those at the bottom are the deeper or more expanded levels of consciousness.
      As per Wilber: The diagonal line represents the "boundary", or split between that which is conscious, integrated, and accepted as part of "Self" (on the left side of the split), and that which is perceived as separate from Self - at the level shown above it. Each level includes all those levels shown above it; for example, the "Ego Level" includes (within the ego side) the "persona" and "shadow," now integrated; yet the body is still perceived as separate.
      In this version of the chart, I put '+' marks to indicate where where the boundary begins to cease. -- cp]

Diversity and the Gestalt - a Function of Sacred Geometry (Pi & Chaos Theory) ?

          Pi, Chaos Theory, and... : It occurred to me that the number pi, the almost endless non-repeating series, as a function of the mandelbrot and Chaos Theory, and thus seemingly going EVERYwhere in the universe ... would seem to be correlated to the need to break habits... note the angles and inner structures of the golden rectangle (based on pi and square roots of pi)... they are dynamic, always turning (hence the seashell that is often graphically overlaid with the golden rectangle)... like chaos theory but less(?) repeating than the --seemingly, but ever so not, random-- mandelbrot dynamic - or maybe they are related in that "the line or continuum that they represent" keeps changing direction (at least relative to what we call "straight" in the dimension we normally "see" in) and never covers the exact same ground, but if followed forever...

...then perhaps ALL ground is covered - perhaps every molecule is connected on this line... geometrically proving as it were that every atom has it's own defined place in the gestalt whole of the universe, it's own individuality as far as placement goes, yet ever-totally-connected to every other atom in the universe - thus by design given this mathematical constant that also determines our DNA's effective functioning, thence our very existence as organic life forms, the structure of our universe, and therefore the structure that guides our consciousness so long as we perceive through these corporeal forms... and therefore, some would say the very nature of our consciousness - and in this case - from, by, and back to realization of, the nature of total interconnectedness with all life.

The Pi-Rectangle, or "Golden Rectangle", graphically describes the pi-ratio proportions, which is the basis of Sacred Geometry, DNA function, and the universal constant of all life as we know it. How and why is described in the "Proportion and Function" paragraph in the "Archetypes & Geometry Scenario 1" section.

          From here it occurred to me that, perhaps, part of our completing ourselves is getting in touch with every part of ourselves... one moment of focus on every part of our body... at least sufficient to tie it back into the matrix, especially if it were ever separated by injury. Not speaking of missing parts by amputation (necessarily?), but (at least?) all those still attached or within, that might not be getting full or sufficient circulation to contribute their share of the work for the rest of the body. The point being that, one of our missions as humans, in the process of self-realization over many lifetimes, is to complete the body, one component, organ, or system at a time if/as necessary. And that focus of ones compassionate attention - on those parts that are considered less whole or less connected to the rest of self - is the basic means of accomplishing that. And, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure this is a basic tenant of traditional yoga. [8/14/10, 4:14 AM]

          One could say that medical over-categorization has led people to be bigoted and "extremist" towards their medical conditions. This can apply to political conditions, whether they be *called* capitalistic, socialistic, communistic, right-wing or leftist (especially while the defining or labeling of various political strategies can be so controversial in itself). As in medicine, finding and maintaining the right balance of elements in any governing system requires an unprejudiced and objective analysis. That includes the appreciation of (the diversity of) the proper place and role of almost every type of strategy and mechanism ever used in history, all considered in the context of each their settings (era, place, and circumstance), in order to develop what will work optimally for any current circumstance. And then a "Diet" is prescribed to facilitate transition to and maintenance for the truly workable system. Easy? Of course not, certainly given these requirements for transition: Time for integration of what we've learned mentally, and for healing much of what we've learned emotionally (in the "school of hard knocks") for necessary realizations regarding relationships (with self, others, Higher Power as applies), values, purpose, direction.         But if we get through all that, one of the many noted benefits include "...           The original paper was email published in Nov '95 on listserv@intuition.org (Institute of Noetic Sciences) and Spiramed@sjuvm.stjohns.Edu. Yes, *1995* - So I guess the "system" I used was not so bad (based on the "Seven Phases of Evolution," as recently detailed on that page). Some intuition did enter in between that system and the "if this, then this" logic - scans of original notes with hand-drawn flow-charts included. Yet, I've never called this "a prophecy," but a percieved spiritual challenge with potentially great rewards; an opportunity for taking responsibility. Even so: That 10 year 'prep' period has become NOW - wherein so much is being determined about how and how soon we begin this next age - or if we do before the planet (otherwise) overhauls itself. But remember "that spaceship" that's going to save us ? Wink Well, IMO, the pilots are none other than ourselves - as our Earth-Steward selves that is. So, IF it happens, not to worry, we won't miss a minute of it -- IMO, God wouldn't deprive us of the realization that we are so capable! (And responsible. Or don't we want to earn our way ?!)
 

*Something NEW* for Medicine AND Health Insurance

What would actually change our health-care system the most?


          How about a means of diagnosis that takes so many aspects of a person into account, that it creates a capacity for designing a truly healing program for most any patient? Nice dream you say. How could a diagnostic system be that accurate for so many conditions? What would enable our medical system to consider, so surely and comprehensively to so much greater depth and context, the many processes for the many different kinds of individuals, than we do now? Well, of course, such questions indicate a healthy skepticism. But let's dream just a bit more, but this time, from outside the box, as they say:

         What if there were a system of assessment that would bring together the great many disciplines of health-care - particularly including Eastern, Naturopathic, and even the many among the Western - and to a degree of collaboration that was far beyond what we've ever seen before? In case you don't know, such collaboration is currently not a reality to any meaningful extent, certainly for most health conditions. Particularly between those focusing on the body, and those focusing on the mind, not to mention the relative few focusing on the connection between the two.

          Here's where many professors might dawn that wry grin, being so acutely aware of the egos of various medical disciplines locked around their own perspectives about what heals and what doesn't and so on. And they say, "Yeah, that's going to happen soon."
          Understood. There is that multi-varied polarization in the medical fields that you may not have heard about very often, certainly not prior to when such practices as chiropractic and acupuncture began their influx into western societies.

          And yes - I am working towards something that may hold some hope. In fact I've been working on something for some time, and I can understand some degree of skepticism "in high circles" as related to the likelihood of getting a review - by those that can make a difference. However, One of my dreams for a long time now is a society where/in all people, beginning in childhood, are taught how to feel/see/read their own body-mind communications such that preventative health maintenance eventually becomes second nature. That would then be part of our upbringing and public schooling. But that capability depends on a diagnostic capacity which would require a few decades of research and development, per the project described below - but which would also lend many other exciting accomplishments...


          I'm referring to what I call "the Fascia Memory Project." Which I have attempted to develop from basic concept ( first published in 1996 ), into an effective presentation on line (from theory & basis to projected 35 year plan). I suppose I've too often taken the above noted skeptical response too seriously, and then relented to focus on other vocation related projects,* having had generally limited resources, working for a living and so on.

         The Fascia-Memory Project is about research and development into the relationships among connective tissue (fascia), objective/subjective experience, the neuro-physical interface between emotion, and the brain, and "body-Memory." About developing connective tissue scanning devices and diagnostics hardware for discerning and illustrating all that. Goals include developing optimal means for applying that R&D in health care practice, as well as developing enhanced systems for individual development of body-awareness for preventative health maintenance. A long term project, but the intermediate goals and sub-projects themselves would bring about considerable effective change from the earliest stages and increasingly through project's end. Some, in fact, would help pay for the project (particularly the "Muscle Madness" game show and off-shoots, as described at the project's Goals & Objectives page). The range of application extends from the medical industry to personal home use, to public education, to social and correctional rehabilitation. For context and perspective on this far-reaching multi-faceted proposal, see (page 8) the Fascia-Memory Project Overview Chart.

          The Fascia Memory Project is not an idea for sale. It "only" requires a sizable investment to initiate the project. But one I am sure we would all benefit from. If you are sufficiently connected, financially or otherwise, please take it and make it happen... this or something better. Please see the web pages for more on how and why the investment would return far more than financial benefits - although I have also explained sufficiently there how that would happen as well.

          Hence my note at Facebook and some pages at my web site: I hope/plan to attract some helpful feedback, perhaps about something I need to include to make the presentation better understood or otherwise more effective. Perhaps this will draw something far more. I am hoping to get a good hearing for the system - which I believe will lead to research, that will lead to the system with the capacities I describe above. I have doubts about that happening in the United States. Other countries seem more multi-discipline-capable when it comes to medicine - and it's relationship to other organized interests.

ON SCIENCE, CONSCIOUSNESS, & WORLD CHANGE

          I have been (returned to) studying up on some things, thanks to the makers of "What the Bleep Do We Know" (at WhatTheBleep.Com). And more recently (Jan '09) I am reminded of HeartMath.Org with their promotion of the "De-Stress Kit for the Changing Times." Some might say that both 'Bleep' and 'HeartMath' began with what I'll call "The Tao of Physics Clan" of Fritjof Capra (of the 70's-80's era of published studies & thought) as well as "the Bleep Clan" of Fred Alan Wolfe, the academically most esteemed members of which integrated the knowledge for this much needed production. Through these efforts, IMHO, they offer ground breaking implications for mankind, for our victory over the current period of challenge to world community, re-initiating possibilities for survival into the 22nd Century.
          Most any psychologist or naturopath (or most any M.D.) will tell you that the most difficult thing for any human to do is break a habit, whether physical, emotional, or mental. Or as the 'Bleep' folks put it, "Nerve cells that fire together wire together, but Nerve cells that don't fire together -- or loose their long-term relationship by our interuppting that and observing the effect, then we break the automatic response mechanisms it takes, and then are free to be there for us as we are fully present with each experience" [close paraphrase, -cp]. One way of defining any world problem (by cause and effect) is its association with one or more addictions (drugs, violence, denial, etc), relative to it's association with things that create beneficial effect (upon oneself, others, or situations.
          Breaking habits is exactly the potential of what I call the "Bleep Tool Kit": those things (methodologies, practices, attendant devices if/when appropriate) that provide the capability to break habits on every level, whether personal or interpersonal, community or inter-community, and whether just conceived or fully manifested. Creation of our individual and community habit-breaking tool kits depends on the investment of time and application of principle - via the focus of one or more people. IMO, that's the first half of 'World change' - the other half is the personal and communal application of the tools.
          The "De-Stress Kit" provides much for initiating healing on the personal level, with great potential for assisting development of inner stillness and clarity. Such benefits can certainly, even naturally, expand to most every communal context. The HeartMath.Org web site is rich with fun tools for self-assessment and quickly introducing body, mind, and emotional health. It also provides FAQ's and voluminous research reports and related links & references. [Please note: as far as I know, there is no formal relationship between HeartMath.Org and WhatTheBleep.Com; I am associating them by common function - tools for conscious personal & world change. I consider their kit a valuable, perhaps essential, part of the "Bleep Tool Kit" - as I would any system(s) that does the same for an individual, actually. In you want to get really serious about such a tool kit, I would suggest integrating Chi-Gung, yoga, and a well-formed 'power-of-spoken-word' system with all the above. -cp] De-Stress Kit

          Remember *TM* (Transcendental Meditation) - and it's effectiveness upon whole communities ? Once the media made it all about the person (the guru), and not about the function and capability - for anyone who wanted to invest the time and energy ...well, at that point the potential was neutralized - until 'Bleep' resurrected the offer (with a much more grounded yet far-reaching platform). And I don't mean to imply that 'Bleep' is all about such serious things. It's as fun as it is intellectually stimulating, even as "wondrous," as it pulls together and makes understandable so many realms of knowledge in a practical way, including the quantum physics that backs it all up!

          All that (study, focus, etc) has effected my professional work as well as most every outlook on life. That effect began during my studies into consciousness in the mid 70's, much more in the later 80's. However, that has dramatically increased recently as I've only begun to realize the (far more) integrated picture (with the implied potentials) that I attempt a useful summary of in the above paragraphs. STOCKER: In The Power of Myth Campbell talked about suffering. There are all of these things happening in the world and what do you do? How do you say Yes to vulgarity and cruelty?

YOUNG: You have to say yes but that doesn't mean being passive. It is accepting life and the world and avoiding the temptation to see in pairs of opposites, to fall into dualistic thinking. This is good, that is bad, this is mine, this isn't mine. This is masculine, this isn't masculine. As Campbell put it, to be between the pairs of opposites is embracing the range of life. Psychotherapy is about that, and wise political leadership is about having a larger vision. What do we do with these seemingly unbridgeable differences that must be bridged? We may have to say yes to the things we find most unacceptable. That is the individual's big challenge, there are things in us that we consider garbage. We say, that's not me. But if you say that it doesn't go away, it just goes unconscious. In stories, many times the magical character wants the garbage. When the Fairy Godmother shows up to help Cinderella, she says O.K. we can get you to the Ball, but I will need some mice, a couple of lizards, a rat, a pumpkin -- she wants garbage. Psychologically, she wants the parts of us we wish we could get rid of and then works with those to do magic. As if to show us, everything in there is made by the sacred energies and they don't make junk.

Gnosticism played a strong role in Christian communities during 1st two centuries. In 5th century, the church sought & destroyed the Gnostic gospels ("the hot item of the day" Pagels calls it), but 52 uncovered in 1945 (Nag Hammadi Library, including the "Gospel of Thunder" - probably the most controversial). Gnosticism encouraged self-knowing as well as broad study of all known religions and philosphies. The Gnostic Gospels also reveals the pluralistic nature of early Christianity and the role of women (including bishops and prophets). Mary Magdaline was called "Apostle of Apostles" in the developing Christian movement. Some of the references that I initially studied included *Patterns of Health* 2nd Edition (1973) by Westlake, *The Geometry of Art and Life* (1946, 1947) by Matila Ghyka, *Healing Through Color* by Theo Gimball (regarding specific geometric shapes, properties, and other relationships), and *Earth Ascending* by Jose Arguelles (regarding most interesting correlations with DNA codes and resonance, the Mayan/Sacred Calendar and other geomantic reference systems, and relationships to evolution of man & culture). More recently I have found a useful reference for lay-persons in the book, *Vibrational Medicine for the 21st Century,* by Richard Gerber. [NOTE: When I use the term "evolution" at this website, I am referring to the psycho-social evolution of humankind, resulting in lasting change on the physical level, not the physical as we generally consider it (with the exception of the brain). -cp].

The Fibonacci Sequence

The Fibonacci numbers are a sequence of integers, mathematically defined by F(0) = 0; F(1)=1; F(n) = F(n-1) = F(n-2) for n>1.


So after the two initial numbers, each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers; 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34....


This is the "Rule of Thirds" or the "Golden Ratio" which is (1:1.618). This sequence has appreated many times in popular culture. Fibonacci numbers have been mentioned in novels, films (such as The DaVinci Code), episodes of television shows, the creation of music (by Bartok, Debussey), visual art and architecture (the Parthenon).


Fibonacci sequences also appear in biological settings such as the branching in trees, the arrangment of leaves on s stem, the uncurling fern, the curves of shells, the breeding of rabbits, the curve of waves and the arrangment of a pine cone. Studies have been done to advance the idea that real instances can be in part understood as the expression of certain algebraic constraints on free groups.

        ABOUT THE SYMBOLIC ART: The symbols for the "Chalice" - or Holy Grail - that I often use are drawn essentially from ancient archetypes - including the symbol(s) composing what is known as "The Star of David," which symbols actually pre-date(s) any such reference by many centuries or more. They all have their own rich meanings as related to the spiritual dilemma or paradox, balancing or synthesis of qualities (such as Yin & Yang), and healing transformation. Here, the Chalice is essentially a "cauldron" for the balancing and integrating of Humanity with the Divine - individually and communally.           I began my studies in multi-level self-healing when in the service, in Thailand in the Winter of '73. The focus then was on self-help psychology, consciousness, and eastern and western mystical perspectives. This continued through my university studies in Norman, OK '74-'79. 1980 took me into naturopathic studies, primarily nutrition and herbology when I lived in Oklahoma City. Not seeing the naturopathic doctor route as affordable at the time, I found direction via a five-evening massage course, Fall '83. That led to a six month professional practice, followed up with the training in Sante Fe, NM, '84-'85 (detailed in my on-line brochure).

        Since then I have practiced massage and/or healing facilitation for others, initially in Santa Fe, NM (during/after my training), then San Louis Obispo, CA, and Seattle, WA (with more courses along the way). This includes exploring personal challenges and self-healing methodology. A session may include various energy-body-work modalities, Body/Energy-Awareness based Preventative Health Maintenance Instruction, Cyclist Therapy, office stress treatments (in a chair), or only Reiki or relaxation work in total silence. A client chooses based on whatever stress, pain, or concerns are present at that session. A client may request a "Body Pattern Reading," as well as various massage/bodywork therapies, all of which techniques are listed & described in the Body-Mind Integration Therapies Brochure. Individual, program, and 3-6 week interval-based rates are available. Testimonials are available (on a separate page).

My professional interests have primarily centered in three areas:

        1) Body-Centered Psycho-Spiritual Process (as in "Hakomi" style of) counseling and bodywork, including as assessing an individual for the most efficient means of addressing connective tissue injury, short and long term (on physical and/or emotional levels). Related are the basic hows & whys of storage & release of tension and "body memory" in the muscles and fascia. And in the fascia memory storage dynamics - referring to the technical aspects of neuro-physical interface between connective tissue, emotion, and the brain);
        2) "Chalice-Bridging" style chakra balancing, including Reiki (energy work) - based in the view that we each are a bridge between Father & Mother God/dess, & thus form a chalice for the balancing & integrating of Humanity with the Divine. Or at least ideally so, as our systems are *attuned* & our batteries are *charged* & we fullfill our true role as human embodiments of Spirit.
        3) Therapy for Cyclists and other athletes, related injuries, and preventative maintenance. In April 2011 I responded to a request to offer Century Ride Packages (pre & post 100+ mile rides). My experience with cyclists at that point, including for minor and major injuries, tallied to over 1200 hrs.

Personal Notes or Quotes on Body-Mind Awareness [ cp, 12'07 ]

BODY-MIND AWARENESS, at the core of preventive health awareness, is one of the most simple, efficacious, & cost-effective forms of HEALTH INSURANCE there can be. Hence, massage is far from just "a luxury item," and bodywork therapies can be indispensable for the healing of certain conditions.

MUSCLES RELATE TO ATTACHMENTS - to what we use to take our stance, to hold our place, to perceive and respond to our environment, and to extend who we are and/or want to be. Or used to be (in too many cases, perhaps).
That speaks not only to the body's condition and function, but to how it communicates awareness of where one is along one's path (of becoming who one truly is).

THE BODY IS . . . among other amazing things, a unique communications system -- intimately linked with one's TOTALITY.
Establishing rapport with one's body can be a PATH to self realization.

ONE OF MY DREAMS is a society where/in all children are taught how to feel/see/read their own body-mind communications such that preventive health maintenance eventually becomes second nature. And actually, for the most part, they would be encouraged to re-awaken and build upon what I believe to be a NATURAL INCLINATION - conscious self-healing and continuous expansion of awareness.

And the above goes FOR ALL OTHER ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES, to the degree that one utilizes them to improve such awareness and causative/pro-active connection with one's body-mind, and to employ the most effective tools for maintaining/improving one's health under any given condition or circumstance.

WHY DOES BODY AWARENESS = OPTIMUM HEALTH INSURANCE ?
And How does "Body-Parenting" relate to that in Body-Mind Integration ?
